Planning The Perfect Barbeque Party

No barbeque would be complete without guests and proper outdoors weather. Plan ahead of time, checking with your potential guest for scheduling conflicts and issues. Finding a date and time that is suitable for everyone should not be to far as long as you everyone enough advanced notice. Alternatively, be sure to check the weather for that type of year. If you live in a climate that cannot be predicted, then you may want to have a backup plan just incase unusual weather comes. You cannot predict things like rain and thunderstorms ahead of time, but you can make sure that you hold you barbeque during the time of year that will be pleasant to your guests. A barbeque in cold weather may hold more negative memories of trying to keep warm rather then good memories of family and friends.

Barbequing has been around since early cavemen figured out that food tasted great after being cooked on an open fire. Perhaps one of the main memories attached to a family barbeque is what was on the menu that day. Barbequing opens a whole array of types of foods available. The type of foods you serve should largely depend on your crowd and the event in which you are celebrating. With the wide range of possibilities, you are sure to find at least a few items that will please your crowd.

Make sure that you prepare ahead for your barbeque. 12 to 24 hours before you plan on beginning the party, make sure to thaw, prepare, and marinate the meat you will be cooking. Once you have the meat stored away, soaking up the marinate, then you must start thinking about what types of side dishes you will be having. If you want a completely tradition barbeque, you may want to stick with traditions sizes. Traditional barbeque sides include potatoes and potato salad, baked beans, and coleslaw. Your traditional condiment bar should include pickles, relish, and onions. These foods are typically severed at barbeques because they are easy to prepare and store until the event happens. You may want to cook other items, but any barbeque is complete with just the items listed above.

A themed barbeque may present more opportunities to hold a festive event. With a themed event, you can splurge on the atmosphere and decorations. Matching tablecloths, napkins, and plates can be found at any local store. You can also match your décor to the party. For example, a luau could simply be creative colored utensils, leis, and Tiki torches, all of which are extremely cheap. You can even reuse the Tiki torches later!

Your party area should be set up before guest arrive. It only takes a few minutes to get everything ready, but the reaction you get from your arriving guests may make you feel like you were preparing and decorating all day. Depending on the situation, you may or may not want to have the food already cooking on the grill. The smell will surely be inviting if you start cooking ahead!

Social Networking for Business

Associations and trade organizations are great places to meet individuals. Usually organizations have a common theme, and it is an understood implication that all members participate to improve themselves and their businesses.

Whether it is a chamber of commerce or a trade association, members have common problems, issues and concerns. By sharing issues and resolutions, members can benefit by the experience of others. Many business owners participate in organizations, not only to network, but also to hopefully circumvent some of the pitfalls encountered by other small businesses–learning from others.

Networking Tips.

Many trade organizations provide forums for networking. In some cases, these might be private online newsgroups, casual meetings, or even professional events with speakers. In order to take full advantage of these networking opportunities consider these tips.

Who You Know.

It is often not who you know, but who they know. I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve seen someone put-off someone who is clearly a beginner only to learn that the “beginner” is the brother or friend of a contact they’ve been trying to meet for weeks.

Honesty.

Be honest. Pretending to be something that you are not, or implying you can deliver a product or service that is outside of your abilities, will foster an environment of distrust and potentially harm your reputation. Keep in mind that networking is viral?vital? and if promises are not kept, word will spread. Establishing yourself and firm as an honest, reputable company.

Success Tip – Create Your Own Business Networking Team

Do your employees and staff really know and understand your core marketing message? How effective are they at sharing that message?

If you really want your business to grow… the people in your organization need to be taught the most effective way to network.

You’re pretty good at representing your company. You believe that networking is a powerful business building tool. You understand the value of creating new business relationships. You attend business networking events. You are personable, professional, and you know your stuff.

What happens if you can’t make it to a networking event? What if you want to expand your networking activities but don’t have the time or the energy to do it all yourself?

How effective would your people be if they had to show up in your place and represent your organization? Do they know the right thing to say and the right questions to ask?

Networking is the most powerful form of face to face marketing. What you say can make or break your networking effectiveness. Your ability to get your story across in twenty seconds or less is a vital key to your networking success… and may be just as big a factor in your overall business success.

Banks, credit unions, real estate organizations, financial services and insurance companies, accounting firms, law firms, doctors, dentists, and other professional offices are all made up of people who, at one time or another, are on the Frontline in the battle for business success. This networking army includes your employees and associates.

Do you know what your people are saying when asked about your company? Are they trained to deliver a brief and understandable version of your core marketing message? Are they capable of telling others what really sets your business apart from your competition?

In addition, networking is not always confined to a specific meeting or event. When asked about your company when they’re out enjoying an evening of, let’s say, bowling, or the Theatre… what do members of your organization say?

Do their words portray your company in the most memorable and flattering way, or are they just kind of winging it and saying whatever comes to mind (positive or not)? Saying the wrong thing can leave people cold or, even worse, actually drive business away.

Learning the right thing to say and the right questions to ask is an overlooked area of business preparation. Lack of training in this area can prove costly.

The flip side to the equation is that with a relatively small amount of guidance you can increase your profitability… and distinguish yourself clearly from your competition. This is accomplished by a simple shift in the words you use… and the words you teach your people to use.

Do you have the time to teach your people the “right thing” to say? For most business owners, sales organizations and professionals… the answer is no.

I’ve been providing this most important training for over 20 years.

I’ve developed the Language of Success™ to provide you with a reliable system that will help you and your organization learn and remember the right thing to say and the right questions to ask when they network or sell. This is so important when your goal is to bring in new clients, create new customers, and develop long term referral sources.

What does having an easy to remember system for saying the right thing and asking the right questions do for you? For starters, you end up with increased confidence in an area that troubles most of us throughout our lives. I’m of course talking about opening new relationships.

Some people have the magic touch when it comes to creating these new relationships while others seem to struggle. To illustrate the challenge… here’s an analogy with which we all can identify.

Succeeding in business is a lot like succeeding in dating. If you say the wrong thing you probably won’t get a second date and you’re certainly not going to get a goodnight kiss.

It’s hard enough to establish a new relationship without having to worry about what you’re going to say. No one really taught us the right thing to say.

Here’s the tip – Talk to your employees and associates and have them share what they say when they’re asked about your company. If you take it for granted that what they say is in your best interest you may be in for an unpleasant surprise.

What you ask them to say should be simple, to the point and consistent. The Language of Success will provide you with an easy to use framework that will help you and your key players come up with the “right thing” to say when you network or sell.

The well known director, Spike Lee, made a film called “Do the Right Thing.” I guess we could call the film that we would make, “Say the Right Thing.”

To your success.

Balancing Your Work For The Home Business

With so many young people trying to work from home on the Internet it is amazing just how many of them really do not have the slightest idea of the workload they have got themselves into.

Many of these people did not even sit down and assess what it is that they see as reasonable personal goal. This is a huge mistake on their part. You must know what you want in order to find a way to obtain it. It must be clear to everyone willing to jump into the Internet marketing world; if you are not sure whether or not you have the drive and a willingness to succeed you might want to save yourself some time, money and much aggravation. It is easy to desire something, and you may think you know how to get it, but there is this little issue about dedication and determination, do you have it? Why put yourself through the troubles of failing and wondering exactly where you went wrong.

The great Winston Churchill once said, “If you find yourself walking through hell, just keep going”. This idea of the struggles people face, in business and in life is just that. Struggles, the winners will survive and the weak will fall. This has been a true facet in life since the beginning of time. Basically staying power in the Internet marketing business is about keeping your face off the pavement.

They also do not get the fact that because it is their business and not someone else’s responsibility, that they in turn will have to work probably much harder to keep it going. When these people hear the nonsense about working 1 hour per week and striking it rich, I truly feel sorry for their heads and wallets when they inevitably re-enter the earth’s atmosphere, and hit the ground with a screeching halt. Again this may be nothing more than naivety, and not total stupidity. The unfortunate part for most people new to the scene is that they have absolutely no idea just what it entails on a time basis.

What must be remembered is that success cannot be bought in a can. It is the single marketing plan and strategy that is doomed to fail. You must be able to walk many avenues in order to reap the benefits of the successes it can yield. Buy into what you truly feel will get you ahead, listen to what other marketers are saying in the forums and try to catch on quick. This field is extremely fast and waits for no one. The best way to do business is to spread out your resources as much as possible; the best way for exposure is to be out in the middle of the field, if you do your research first, then i have no doubt you will be successful.

Building a web site for your home based business

It is possible to make money online, running your business from home. But to be able to do this, you have to have a web site. Most people starting up a home based business will try and build their own, that’s fine if you know what you are doing but can reflect very badly if you don’t. Home based business web sites, need to be professional looking but not overly flashy!

Some work from home opportunities include a web site when you sign up but if starting a new business, consider either one of two options.
1) Pay someone to build your web site for you. Look around you, web sites can be purchased at low cost these days.
2) Use a Free template or paid for template. Web site designers work from home too and are happy to work for low fees to get their own home business of the ground.

Make sure your web site is consistent.

Your customers will want to see a consistent web site layout. They don’t need to know that you are working from home so a professional, well laid out easy to navigate web site is a must. Most users will make an impression of your site in seconds. The difference between a good looking site and a bad looking site is a potential lost sale.

If you run an e-commerce business from home, don’t try and build the shopping cart yourself. Use a third party product like PayPal, particularly good for selling a few products and well respected. Payment processors like PayPal take care of your Data Protection requirements and leave you to get on with promoting your internet business.
Third party software
With a small investment, you can purchase a complete shopping cart or if you are on a tight budget, you could use an open source e-commerce product. Either way if your home based business sells a lot of products, why try and re-invent the wheel!

Paid host or free host?

Don’t make me laugh! A years internet hosting with your own domain name costs less that taking someone out for dinner. If you don’t make this one investment, then why bother starting a business at home? Owning a domain adds professionalism to your business. How many www. mysite.myinternetserviceprovidername.com web sites have you seen, that are successful online businesses?

How much does it all cost?

Hosting your new web site and fitting it out with e-commerce might cost you less than a $100 per year. This depends how many products you sell and how much of the work you are prepared to do your self. But be realistic know your limitations and know when to ask for help!
